Waiver Policy

ALL WAIVER PROGRAMS ARE ON A SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS. IN ORDER TO ACCESS THE PRIVILEGES OF USING THE ALUMNI, SENIOR CITIZEN, UNEMPLOYED, AND VOLUNTEER WAIVER, THE STUDENT MUST WAIT TO REGISTER UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF IN-PERSON REGISTRATION.  NO TYPE OF WAIVER MAY BE USED FOR EITHER THE NURSING OR RADIOGRAPHY PROGRAMS.


ANY COURSE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED FOR PRIOR TO THE WAIVER DAY WILL NOT BE HONORED FOR THE PROGRAM. THE DROPPING AND ADDING OF COURSES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FOR THE USE OF THE WAIVER PROGRAMS.  STUDENTS WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED AND ALLOWED TO APPLY THE WAIVER TO ANY REGISTRATION THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY PAID PRIOR TO WAIVER DAY.


FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROPER PAPERWORK WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF THE START OF THE SEMESTER WILL FORFEIT THE OPTION OF USING THE WAIVER PROGRAM AND WILL RESULT IN THE STUDENT BEING 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL TUITION AND FEES


• All Waiver programs are on a space available basis. In order to access the privileges of using the Alumni, Senior Citizen, Unemployed, and Volunteer waiver, the student must wait to register until the last day of In-person registration.

Alumni Waiver

Must be a paid lifetime or annual member of the Alumni association PRIOR to registering.

o May take one course (up to 4 credits) each semester on a space-available basis.

o Must pay all course fees.

o This privilege may be denied on the basis of unacceptable past attendance or classroom performance.

o All grades are based on the current grading policy of the College and will appear on all future transcripts of the alumni exercising this privilege.


Senior Citizens-Audit

Must prove Passaic County residence.
Must have reached reached their 60th birthday prior to the first day of classes Must pay $5.00 fee per course.

All prerequisites and basic skills testing requirements must be met.


Senior Citizens-Credit

Must prove Passaic County residence.
Must have reached their 60th birthday prior to the first day of classes
Must pay all fees.
All prerequisites and basic skills testing requirements must be met.


Unemployed

• Must register for classes on or after waiver day as defined by the academic calendar. 

• Must submit a new waiver signed by an unemployment counselor for each semester that you will be attending- dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the Waiver day, or no later than three weeks after the start of the term.

• Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and provide all necessary information to the Financial Aid Office.

• Must be in good standing with all educational loans.

• You must not have already paid for the courses.


Steps for Registration and Payment Clearance:

• Receive certification from the Department of Labor.

• Complete FAFSA and bring proof of completion and acceptance.

• Register on or after Waiver day- no Add/Drop will be permitted.

• Bring certification, proof of FAFSA, and schedule to Bursar’s Office immediately after registration to clear your tuition bill.

• Must pay for all insurance and course fees.


National Guard

Must be a degree seeking New Jersey resident
Must be an active member of the New Jersey National Guard or is a child or a spouse of a National Guard member, who was killed in the line of active duty
Must provide a  valid commander’s certification from their unit.
Must complete FAFSA prior to registering. 
Must pay all fees.
May take up to a maximum of 16 credits per term.
May register at any time.

Volunteer Fire, First Aid and Rescue Squad Members and Families
Must  be a New Jersey residents.

Must provide a letter each semester that student has been an active  member in good standing for the last 12 months with volunteer fire or rescue squads, or their dependent children and spouses.

Must provide a copy of the certification of Authorization from the municipality each semester. 

Will receive a $300.00 credit to tuition only per semester up to a maximum of $600.00 per year, with a $2400 maximum over four years.
